What is the Medical Procedure Companion & Ride Home service?

A responsible adult accompanies you, remains available during your procedure, receives permitted discharge information, and drives you home safely in your own vehicle.

Do you stay during the procedure?

Yes, when required. We follow the facility’s stated policy.

How is transportation handled?

Transportation is arranged in advance. When appropriate, the client may drive their own vehicle to the facility and the companion may drive the client home in that vehicle.

Can you receive discharge instructions?

Yes, with your permission. We do not interpret instructions or make medical decisions.

How early should I request a companion?

As soon as your procedure date is known.

Can you stay overnight?

No. We do not provide overnight, nursing, medication, personal care, or lifting services.

Can I schedule a service for a family member or friend?

Yes. Family members, friends, or caregivers are welcome to arrange a service on behalf of someone who needs assistance.

We’ll work with both the client and the person making the arrangements to ensure everything is clearly coordinated and everyone knows what to expect.

Can my service be customized to meet my needs?

Absolutely. Every client’s situation is unique. When scheduling, we’ll discuss your needs and tailor the companion experience whenever possible.

Personalized support may include:

  • Helping prepare questions before a medical appointment
  • Taking notes during the appointment, if requested
  • Helping ensure important questions are addressed
  • Reviewing and organizing follow-up instructions
  • Updating a designated family member or caregiver, with permission
  • Remaining available when a procedure or appointment takes longer than expected
  • Other reasonable, non-medical support arranged in advance

If you need something not listed, please ask. We’ll discuss whether Adaptation can accommodate the request.

Please note: Adaptation provides non-medical companion services. We do not provide medical advice, perform medical procedures, or make medical decisions for clients.
